LDS Religion Essays

A couple years ago I started this project to write about my LDS faith and religion. This is an introduction to some basic beliefs of the Latter Day Saint (Mormon) church, and my attempt to answer some frequently asked questions and correct common misconceptions. These are written from the perspective of a believer, so obviously I am not totally objective. But of course no one is objective, we all come from a certain background and bring our beliefs and experiences to any discussion. These essays represent my personal opinions, understanding, and faith. They are in no way endorsed by the LDS church.

Subjects addressed to date:

LDS Church Resources

Links to the LDS gospel library, general conference addresses, speeches given at Brigham Young University, the Foundation for Ancient American Research and Mormon Studies (FARMS), and several other informative LDS websites.

The Game of Chess

A few thoughts on the merits of the game of chess, and why I believe studying chess benefits young and old. Links to resources, chess organizations and clubs, chess problems, and great chess books.

Illustrators and Artists from History

There are several artists from the past that I admire. Winslow Homer, N.C. Wyeth, Thomas Eakins, Harvey Dunn, J.C. Leyendecker, Tom Lovell, Harry Anderson, and Arnold Friberg are some of my favorite artists and illustrators from history. For the most part they are traditional painters with a realistic (or academic) painting style. I've written a short bio and tried to round up good links to images for each of these artists.

Present-day Artists

Here are introductions and links to several present-day working artists that I admire. It's always exciting to find new artists who can paint so well.
