Fine Artists: Traditional Realism

Gregory Manchess - artist

Gregory Manchess - A very accomplished illustrator, I saw some of his work in CommArts, I wish his own site showed more of his professional work. I love his blocky style, reminiscent of Wyeth and the golden age of illustration. See more of his work here: http://igallo.blogspot.com/2007/09/greg-manchess-pirate.html and also here: http://www.linesandcolors.com/2006/09/01/gregory-manchess/

Dave Malan - artist

Dave Malan - Dave's work is really great. Both a fine art realist painter, fantastic drawings, and great illustrations. I love his simple, clean & understated compositions, powerful use of lighting. Very nice touch.

Steven Huston - artist

Steven Huston - Just found this one looking through an art magazine. Wonderful figurative work, and very expressive style. Great mastery of the medium.

Jacob Collins

Jacob Collins - An amazing draftsman of the human figure. There are several nudes here, so be warned if you find that offensive.

William Whitaker

William Whitaker - He believes the value of painting is to be found in its spiritual power. Having been told all his life that the kind of painting he enjoys is dead, he takes quiet comfort in lovingly attempting to capture something the camera cannot see. He has been a professional artist since 1965, during which time he has conducted workshops and been a university art professor.

Mitch Baird, Jenny Lake painting

Mitch Baird - Mitch also lives and paints in the Pacific Northwest. He lives in West Linn Oregon. He studied at Brigham Young University, and was actually a classmate of mine. His work is fantastic, and getting better every year! I hope to be this good some day.

Ralph Barksdale, oil painting

Ralph Barksdale - Ralph Barksdale was an instructor at Brigham Young University in the fine art department primarily teaching head painting and figure drawing. Ralph and his wife Kathleen now live in the desert southwest in Congress, Arizona.

Jason Bowen, oil painting

Jason Bowen - Jason received his BFA in illustration from Brigham Young University and later completed his MFA in painting through a residence program in Italy with the American University of Washington D.C. He was featured in Southwest Art magazine as an “Artist to Watch” of 2002.
